First and foremost, THANK YOU! There are two options for supporting the youth selling animals at the Fair.
- Purchase an Animal - Support a child directly by purchasing their amimal. Animals can be processed for your own use, donated for resale toward a charitable cause of your choice, or resold at market value. There will be volunteers on hand at the sale to answer any questions and make the process easy for first time buyers. Can't make the sale in person? No worries! There are options for absentee bidding!
- Add On - Add ons are donations to a child above and beyond the sale price of their animal. Add ons are a great option for someone who wants to support a child but does not have the financial means to purchase an animal, or for those who want to support more children with their available budget. Breakfast hosted by Plumas Co. Sheriff’s Assoc. - 7:30 to 8:45 a.m.
Junior Livestock Auction - 9:00 a.m.
Buyers' lunch - noon
Options for Purchase
When you purchase an animal at the Plumas-Sierra Junior Livestock Auction, you have three options:
- Live Release: Take the animal home with you alive to process yourself, keep as a pet, etc.
- Have the animal processed for meat: Meat will be dilivered to Quincy for pickup approximately one month after the sale..
USDA Processor: Messina Meats and Mercado Meats
Slaughter prices:- Beef - $150 plus $1.40/lb
- Hog - $80 plus $1.20/lb
- Lamb - $80 plus $130
- Goat - $80 plus $130
- Resale: You can choose to resell the animal for market price, listed below. You will then pay the difference between your bid price and the resale price.
- Beef - $1.30/lb
- Hog - $0.60/lb
- Lamb - $1.50/lb
- Goat - $2.80/lb
- Donate the animal: You can choose to donate the animal to a cause of your choice and the animal will go back through the sale. Its selling price will be donated to that cause.
Absentee Bidding
Can't make the sale in person? Absentee Bidding, Phone Bidding and Add-Ons will be accepted for those who cannot attend the sale! These forms must be submitted by July 26.
